The title of this
article sounds terrible and seems overemphasized. Indeed, no mistake. I got that
word when I was feeling like sick of my life. I was so demotivated to finish my college and I wanted to escape from this world.

Literally, drapetomania is an overwhelming urge to run away (from home, a bad situation, responsibility, etc.)[1] Originally, the term drapetomania was a conjectural mental illness that, in 1851, American physician, Samuel A. Cartwright, hypothesized as the cause of enslaved Africans fleeing captivity.[2] That’s where I found the right word to describe my situation. And yeah… I’m little bit overreacted.
I was senior year student. However, me and my friends was joining a legislative
drafting competition in Faculty of Law Universitas
Brawijaya, Malang. Unfortunately, we didn’t have any friends to print out the
competition file and hand it over to competition committee there. So, I went
there by train, right on Eid al-Adha. I knew this is not a vacation, however I named
it escape in 2017 and I wanted to make it sweet.
After I have completed allof the things about competition, I called Faris, my boyfriend. He stays in
Malang, because he was studying in here. He took me to the Batu Bengkung beach
because he knew how much I love the sea. Batu Bengkung is located on the southern coast of
Java, exactly in Gajahrejo, Gedangan, Malang, Jawa Timur. It took us four hours, because we got lost for a while. Google maps didn’t help so
much, even brought us to elsewhere. So, we decided to ask to the people and
paid much attention for signpost indicates.
As its
name, Batu Bengkung Beach offers a splendid landscape of the Indian Ocean
behind a natural barricade of corals, such a wide rug turquoise sea with wave
lace. It has white warm sand and coral reef which makes up the small ponds. The
moment when the sun goes down is the moment that isn’t supposed to miss,
because we can see the beauty of dusk embracing the earth. But we didn’t have time
to enjoy it because the sky become overcast. So, we decided to go home before it rains. Nevertheless, I’m still happy because what I really need is just a
little break from reality.
